Wall painting with DIS students
The Smiling Hospital Foundation again welcomed 27 exchange students and their professors from the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS). The program intended to give an overview of the foundation to the students and an opportunity to paint a mural as volunteers. The program was held at MEREK, institute for rehabilitation of physically challenged persons. MEREK Director, Mihály Kogon opened the program and was followed by Dr Albert Royaards, Founder and President of the Board of Smiling Hospital Foundation who gave an overview to the event and what inspired the creation of the foundation. Presentations were made by Renáta Göncz, SHF volunteer and opera singer, and Szilvia Sófalvi, SHF Country Coordinator. A tour was given by MEREK coordinator Erik Fuksz who gave much insight into the day-to-day life at the facility for the clients there. Students changed into painting gear and were ready to begin work. With the help of Andrea Illes, a SHF artist and professional painter, they brightened an entire corridor with colorful natural motifs. The students work gathered praise from everyone involved and even passers-by. We wish big smiles and thanks to the DIS students and their instructors for a job well done!
